Idiopathic infertility – what if medicine fails?

Infertility, the causes of which cannot be established, concerns even
15-20% (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/325012974_Problem_nieplodnosci_wsrod_kobiet_i_mezczyzn-epidemiologia_czynniki_ryzyka_i_swiadomosc_spoleczna) of couples unsuccessfully trying to have a child. What if, when full infertility diagnostics (/ diagnostics-infertility /) shows that you are ready, and yet conception does not take place… Perhaps the reason for the difficulty lies somewhere else – in your head?

Medicine still doesn’t know all the factors that influence successful conception and keeping a pregnancy, which is why it’s important to find a place that offers holistic support while you’re trying to have a baby.

Infertility may be accompanied by:

  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Tense relationships with your partner, family, friends
  • Problems with concentration and inability to perform daily duties
  • High level of anxiety
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Changes in appetite (increase or decrease)
  • Alcohol and/or drug abuse
  • Suicidal thoughts

Idiopathic infertility, i.e. infertility with an undetermined cause, can have a very strong impact on everyday functioning. The stress that accompanies it further aggravates the problem, so while waiting for the desired two lines on the test, it is worth using the help of a psychologist, with whom you can go through the diagnostic period (/infertility-treatment/), which will show ways to reduce tension, help partners to deal with the new situation, both individually and together.

And when is it especially worth considering talking to a specialist?

When it is noticed that:

  • the whole life is subordinated to the problem of infertility (rituals, treatments, examinations, etc.),
  • when you lose interest in activities you used to enjoy,
  • when about 80% of thoughts revolve around the problem,
  • when a previously satisfying marital relationship becomes problematic.

The above-mentioned situations should be an alarm signal that our lives are driven by stress and unfulfilled expectations. Psychotherapy may be the solution.
